Vital Voices works internationally to empower women leaders to improve the societies they belong to. These leaders work to strengthen laws, bolster economic strength and entrepreneurship, and defend political freedoms.

Every year, Vital Voices honors five exceptional women at their Kennedy Center Global Leadership Awards. Before each honoree is invited to the stage, a short film is shown to the audience to develop a relationship with her, her impact, and her vision for the future. By the time she enters the stage, the room is electrified.
